Driving Instructor Training | Independent Trainer

Why Choose an Independent Trainer like Lynne?

Because you pay as you go, and get personal one-to-one training, using modern coaching techniques. Lynne Barrie Driver Training offers a real alternative to larger establishments such as the Instructor College.

Obviously you will shop around for driver instructor training, but look carefully at what you are being offered. Is the training one to one tuition or will you be in a car with two or three other trainees, dividing your personal training time? Read guarantees in detail: no one can guarantee you will pass all three parts or how many hours of tuition you will need for each part; everyone is individual in their learning needs. Will you have to pay for the full course in advance? What will happen if you fail one of your exams: how much extra training will you be offered? Who are the trainers and what qualifications do they have?

Sadly, national statistics show a high failure rate in the exams, particularly at Part 3. The two main reasons for poor results could be categorised as follows:

  • The candidate is simply not driving instructor material.
  • The candidate has had insufficient or poor training.

With care you can make sure that you don't waste money on ineffective training. Don't be too influenced about lucrative job offers. When you are qualified it's relatively easy to find work in this industry.

Many of the trainers in ADI training are not Grade Six instructors, in fact some qualified as instructors less than a year ago! Many trainers, possibly the majority, do not hold additional training qualifications. Some might be excellent teachers of learners, however there is a big difference between having that skill and being able to effectively share that skill with others.

As one of the most highly qualified instructors around, I can provide an excellent training programme structured to your needs. I am just a phone call away if you need help or advice and all the training is on a one to one basis. Your training will be suited to your needs and experience. You will not be entered for the exams until you feel fully prepared and could pass them successfully. I offer full support in deciding if you want to work independently, for a large national driving school, or I am looking for instructors locally to work with me.

You do not need to make an initial large outlay except for purchasing the books and resources for Part 1. You can pay for each part of the course when you are ready to begin it. The training vehicle is fitted with an in-car video system so lessons for Part 2 and Part 3 can be played back with full sound: this has become a very valuable teaching aid, so you can assess your performance and improve your instruction.

Advice is available on Continuous Professional Development (CPD) once you have become a fully qualified instructor. Lynne now runs workshops and seminars to help with your CPD.
