Driving Instructor Training | Do I Qualify?

Requirements:

The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) requirements for becoming a driving instructor are as follows:

  • You have held a full UK or European driving licence for at least 3.5 years.
  • You haven’t been disqualified from driving during the last 4 years.
  • You have no criminal convictions that cause the DSA to consider you unsuitable. All motoring offences will be taken into account when assessing your suitability. A maximum of 6 penalty points may be considered. A Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check will be carried out before you register: this takes approximately 8 weeks.
  • You can pass the eyesight test and read a number plate from a minimum of 27.5 metres (90 feet) away. This can be with glasses or contact lenses if you wear them.
  • You can pass the 3 compulsory exams.
